Rustic and Industrial Age Art Work - Page 6 |
"The Blacksmith's Forge Blower" This is a “Buffalo Forge Company” blacksmith’s blower. The name is in raised lettering on the side. Also in raised lettering is “CLIMAX” which I believe to be the model, and “Buffalo N.Y. U.S.A.” This blacksmith’s forge blower was purchased by me in Bandera, Texas back in the mid 1990’s. It was not functional and sat in my yard until just recently when I decided to do something with it. It took a while and full disassembly, but I was able to get it working and back to fully functional. I added a new oak handle and secured the blower to a white oak mount. The mount was in turn, secured to a piece of copper pipe that I removed from a communications tower about 20 years ago. The base is a rescued wire wheel from a 1928 Ford Model A. I pulled it out of tall grass in a field in the Texas panhandle about 25 years ago. All working metal parts are linseed oiled to maintain the antique luster. What a very cool, industrial age, display piece! Price is $850 |
