Non- Firing - Full Scale 12 Pounder Carronade on Naval / Ships Carriage. The Carronade cannon and carriage was designed as a short-range naval weapon with a low muzzle velocity. The Carronade is also known as "The Smasher" with it's 4" gun bore ! Carronades were naval ship board guns that were used to inflict great damage to the hulls of other ships in the 1700-1800's. Beyond the beastly look of this gun piece notice the wooden dished wheels, capsquares and threaded elevation screw. The 39" cannon barrel, trimmings and carriage are made from wood.
